
Luis Gerardo Hernández Rojas, a 32-year-old taekwondo practitioner, who was reported missing just over two weeks ago, was found dead in Mexico City. The disappearance of the athlete was reported by his family on March 30, after it was known that he would attend a meeting in the Morelos neighborhood, in the Venustiano Carranza borough. The discovery of his lifeless body was confirmed on March 16 by an acquaintance of the athlete. So far, the causes of his death have not been disclosed nor if there are any arrests related to this incident.
Friends and family of Luis Gerardo Hernández reported that he disappeared on March 29, after going out with a friend and losing communication with him. A report was filed with the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City. According to reports on social media, it is suggested that the taekwondo practitioner was kidnapped before being found dead, although this has not been confirmed by the authorities.
Luis Gerardo Hernández had practiced taekwondo for 15 years at the Mooo Duk Kwan Association, reaching the rank of second Dan. Despite his dedication and time in the sport, he was never part of the national team nor did he compete internationally. He also showed interest in swimming, according to social media posts from his acquaintances. A friend of Luis Gerardo Hernández described him in a Facebook post as "a good person, with a big heart, noble, kind, supportive, and very strong."
